Oral Health Research Project

One of the leading causes of avoidable hospital admissions in Unama’ki is dental conditions.  Recognizing the negative impact that poor oral health has on the overall health and quality of life of community members, the Tui’kn Partenrship is teaming up with researchers from Dalhousie and Cape Breton universities to design and implement innovative, locally appropriate and culturally relevant population health interventions to improve oral health.  Our team has received an operating grant from CIHR to expand and strengthen our research team and work with community members to identify culturally appropriate oral health interventions.   At the end of this project, our research team will be poised to plan and conduct a large-scale and multi-faceted oral health implementation research project.
