Waycobah is an historic Mi’kmaq community nestled along the shores of the world-famous Bras d’Or Lakes. Our traditional name is We’ko’kmaq and our community members enjoy a long history of pride in our heritage. Today’s Waycobah is a thriving community with a state-of-the-art school and health centre, private businesses that cater to Cape Breton Island tourists and local residents, and a vibrant cultural environment. Waycobah is a rapidly growing community with a population increase of 8.7% last year. Current population stands at 974 people. Economic and social development remains a priority for the community as Chief and Council work to enhance Waycobah’s natural attributes.
